Autumn Winter loves.

Hi! I thought I'd write a post on my Wardrobe, and my favourite things i'm looking for this winter! Also, I thought I'd try out a new hair style, What are your thoughts? Every time I search for fashion inspiration i've come across ladies with beautiful short bobs, wonderfully textured in tumbling waves. I thought i'd give the style a go to see if it suits me, I think it makes me look entirely different, which is a lot to get used to. Don't I look old to!?

I thought i'd try out a new hair style! Thoughts?

1. Large Wardrobe
This is my Ikea wardrobe, one of my smartest decisions, lots of room and it's exactly what I wanted, I love whites, I prefer to have a plain room/Wardrobe which can be changed around easily, as apposed to something filled with character which has to compete with it's surroundings. It's just personal preference but I love having everything ordered from my most used to rarely worn, Its nice to visualise what i'm getting the most use out of, and see all the colours which work together.

2. Sturdy shoes
This year I've been wearing shoes that I wouldn't usually wear, I was never keen on pointed toes and I was more comfortable in a wedge, but as my style has developed I've loved wearing stilettos and ankle straps. For winter i'm going to love looking out for nice sturdy boots with a thick heel. I'm also partial to a 60's style flat too.

Trendy shoes:
Thick heels, brogues.

3. Mixing textures.
The one thing that helps me get over the passing of summer is a lot of lovely knitwear, paired with leathers or cottons the mixture of textures works really well, All my fluffy jumpers look great with a tailored blazer or a patent skirt. I love greys and whites, muted colour palettes are really catching my eye this winter. Last year done up shirts were a massive trend, however this year I think a slouchy blouse with a few buttons left undone paired with tailored pegged trousers is a really beautiful look with out complicating things.

Winter staples:
Blouses not done up, tailored blazers, Pegged trousers.

4. Beauty
I've recently noticed a huge increase in people waring nude lipsticks, I've recently bought a few matt lipsticks in oranges and light pinks, just as a variation, as I usually wear a nice bold red. However, Miss Kylie Jenner has brought the over lined nude shades back into the spotlight (through her love of the 90's) and it's really starting to take off again.  I can't say I'm totally taken with the 90's grunge fashion lately, as I think it's gone on for a long time, but I do love a nude lipstick.

Favourite lipstick colours:
purple, nude, maroon

5. Wardrobe updating.
Ok, I've discovered something really interesting, Vinted, an online platform where you can sell unwanted clothes and.... Swap them too. I'm amazed that people have been interested in the items I don't like any more and have agreed to swap with me for items that I really love, It's a great way to update your wardrobe if you want to save money as all you have to pay is postage, there's also a lot of good quality clothing on there going for really reasonable prices. There's nothing to lose, so try it out. If you want to see what i'm getting rid of then you can find me here. I'm looking out for a white blazer at the moment, so maybe we can swap?

Best to find on Vinted:
Asos, H&M, Misguided

6. Jewellery
I'm resisting the urge to buy a choker, just because i'm a little over fashion moving backwards at such a strong pace, having said that if there are some lovely ones I might purchase! I store my necklaces and rings in Kilner jars, they're so easy to find and look lovely placed over the room as a decoration, my favourite accessories at the moment are thin chains, and layering lots of different rings!

best accessories:
Flash tattoos, silver and gold rings.

ok, so those of my favourite things i'll be wearing this winter, I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog, i'm trying to up my photography standard to make it all a little more interesting! If there are any comments, tips etc you want to give me, then I always welcome them.

Black and White

I finally got hold of one of my favourite statement pieces this week, Leather trousers! (not real leather) but just as lovely. I wanted to wear them with just a simple plain white t-shirt. I also borrowed my mums long black duster coat to wear over the top, the combination of textures works really well together, however i'm not too keen on the A-line shape of the coat, (hence the lack of full length photographs)  The bird skull ring is from ASOS and the rest of the rings are from H&M.

A few years ago I decided to try and make the whole illustration thing a way for me to make money, it was an enormously scary decision and I was so nervous about really trying to do this as a living. I saw Company Magazinehad an illustration competition and decided to enter, I didn't win but the art director really liked my work and wanted to commission me for my first published fashion illustration, I soon found out how passionate they were about new talent, art and fashion. They took a chance on me and made people take me seriously. if anyone comments on my work it's because they've seen it in company. I'm sad to hear they're going but I wanted to thank them for letting me be in the magazine over 14 times with my drawings. You're going to be missed.

Portugal 2014,

I've just come back from Portugal, it's fast becoming my FAVOURITE place to visit, I went to the Algarve and stayed in Carvoeiro, a beautiful little town with lots going on, stunning beaches and lots of beauty spots. It was really nice to get away from work a bit so I can really appreciate it when I got home, I'm so inspired now and can't wait to start creating new pieces.
One of my favourite pictures, Half way up to Monchique mountain, We went off roading in a jeep and had the most amazing time. You can see the reservoir in the distance, We couldn't visit it this year due to the forest fires, the helicopters use the water source there to help extinguish any outbreaks. I'm glad I got to see it last year.

23/07/2014

Hi there! It's been a while since I posted, i'm sorry. It was my 24th Birthday yesterday, so I was celebrating that with my family and friends, my lovely boyfriend took me out for dinner in China Town in Birmingham and my friends were there to surprise me, it was really lovely, and I genuinely had no idea. I got some lovely things for my birthday, tonnes of chocolate which is always fabulous, but i'll be the size of a whale by the time I got to Portugal in August, I also have two weddings to attend that month too, So i can't pig out too much :'( Generally life has been pretty nice lately, I signed a contract with Sydney Public Relations, who is now my creative agency handling my commissions and finding me work etc, so that is SUPER exciting, maybe they can get me out to Australia to do some work (wishful thinking) I got lots of new look vouchers for my birthday, they have SO many gorgeous coats in at the moment which I'm finding very hard to resist, they're all cut so beautifully and look so classy. H&M is totally gorgeous at the moment too, I bought a stunning dress with lace detailing which, does look a little like a neglige, but worn with boots and a leather it looks really nice. You can't see it much in the picture unfortunately.

I also got a gorgeous new lipstick, i've really been into Matt lipsticks lately, it applies like a lipgloss, which is really odd, but it dries and has a beautiful orange tint, perfect for summer and is long lasting. It's Collection - Cream puff in Fairy cake 3. At £2.99 it's ridiculously good value, which makes me very suspicious.....

CoCo Chanel Perfume Illustration 7/20

7/20 We're getting somewhere now! It's so refreshing to add something to my portfolio on a regular basis, Also creating new content is really helping with time keeping, creativity and so much more. Don't get me wrong, it can be a massive struggle when juggling other tasks and have other commitments, but the rise in social media and interest has really been lovely. I've been eager to draw this legendary perfume bottle for a while now, and doing this challenge has given me a great excuse to do so, i'm also building up a much stronger beauty portfolio which I've been wanting to do for a while. I may have a break from the beauty products in the next few days and focus on food which is another avenue i'm eager to pursue, delicate cakes, biscuits and cocktails might feature in the next few illustrations. What do you think? are there any suggestions for things you'd like me to draw?
I also have some exciting news to share in the next day or so, i'm bursting not being able to tell anyone!

 6/20
apologies for missing a day, I think all this use of colour gave me a migraine ;) I wanted to draw some lovely pink and purple hair this time, inspired by Katy perry and her love of colourful hair this piece was created with her in mind. It took me the longest amount of time to create this illustration, and i completely underestimated how i'd have to balance my time, especially whilst working on other commissions at the same time. However, I love that it came out so well and the response on Instagram has been really encouraging
